I was a drunk for 17 years of my life. I was crying at a party once about how no one loves me and I always feel alone (I was drunk of course). A friend of mine leaned over and, despite the fact that I was in tears, told me, "A lot of people care about you Stephanie...you are just too drunk to see them."
I didn't get sober for many years after that, but I always remembered those words from a guy that had no knowledge that those words would ever be one of my tools for quitting. But he knew that the words were true so he said them to me.
It is really difficult to tell someone the absolute truth but if you can see something that they can't, take a deep breath and with total kindness, just tell them. You may never know how your words will help them, but somewhere down the line... I am convinced they will.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
