For many years, my life revolved around horses. They were my hobby as much as my way of paying the bills. Living in the city, I didn't get to live on a horse farm. My parents didn't have a lot of money.
When I turned 9 years old my father surprised me with a mixed breed cattle horse. I made a promise to my little horse as a little girl that I would have a place for him someday where he could roam free in the bluegrass. For us Kentuckians, we put a lot of pride in our limestone soil and perfected livestock.
I was 25 years old when I saved enough money and took a chance on a little farm that I call my own. I could never trade living here in God's country for anywhere else. I made it and that is what hard work and saving every last dollar and living within my means has brought me.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
