My Beloved Husband Robert passed away from a tragic accident in 2005 he left behind his hero, his Son who was 12 at the time, and myself.
After our Son was born my husband received news that his kidneys were failing. He was horribly sick and on dialysis for three years and wasn't able to enjoy or bond with our newborn Son.
He was a very lucky recipient of a kidney from a cadaver in 1996. His two brothers were not a match blood type but I was! I was ready to go through all the tests but there are antigens that they match the kidneys with and there are six. I matched two antigens and then we got a phone call that there was a kidney for him and guess what the doctors told us that this kidney matched six out of six antigens! They said it was close to winning the lottery. A stranger who donated their organs when they passed away saved my husbands life! He lived 10 years healthy with that kidney until he died in an accident.
The best part of this story is when my husband passed away the only organ that was donatable was that same kidney he received 10 years ago and that same kidney saved someone else's life!

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
