On a cold winter drive home at dusk through New Orleans East, I witness an act of kindness that brought tears to my eyes. A young black man (we'll call him "J") that I know, was commuting along side me. This young man grew up in some of the roughest neighborhoods in the area. He knows the city and its neighborhoods. As we drove through New Orleans "east" he spotted a young white man walking along side of the interstate with a gas can. He pulled over and gave this young man a ride to the gas station. Why? Because it was cold, or was it because he knew a young white man should not be walking in that neighborhood? It was probably both. "J", you are a hero!

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
