When I was six years old, my aunt to be and one of the closest people to me in my life went into an eight week cancer treatment for Lukemia which, only had a 10% success rate. Before leaving I was riding in the car with her, as we stopped at a red light I said, "You are going to be gone the whole summer," in a low voice. She replied "Don't worry, I'll see you again at the end of the summer, I'm sorry I will miss your birthday." Unfortunately, I never was able to see her again because she passed away the day after my birthday in the middle of treatment. I remember crying in my mothers lap at a family gathering to read her will. Though she was in my life for a short time, she taught me the most important lesson I will ever learn: to put everything you have into everyday and most importantly do what makes you happy. In her short life of 22 years, she never once complained and was one of the happiest and kindest people I have ever known. I think of her as I live my life to the fullest and try to make her proud everyday because what we do have could be gone in an instant.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
