This story of empowerment came from my involvement in Boy Scouts. As a young Tenderfoot scout, I really had no idea what I was doing in the troop, and just followed along with what the older boys, whom I looked up to, did. I had never been placed in a position where someone else vested their trust in me. Yet, out of the blue, my Patrol Leader, Brandon, named me the Assistant Patrol Leader. This meant that, simply by seeing me in my day-to-day interactions, he trusted me to hold a position as his assistant and to do his duties if he was not there. This trust gave me a feeling of empowerment - that I could truly be someone, because someone else trusted me to be. Six years later, I became an Eagle Scout, something that would not have been possible, had someone not placed that grain of trust in me early on.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
