It was the week of freshman orientation for college. Everything was new to me, especially all the people. One of my biggest fears coming to college was wondering if I would ever make new friends, because I am a very shy person. So during orientation week, we met with our group leader and everyone who lived on our floor. Our group leader told us to pick a partner and get to know them, I was partners with the girl sitting next to me. Me and my partner had quite a few things in common, especially our love for fastpitch. Later on during the week I saw my partner walking in the hall and she told me she was planning to go ice skating with another one of her friends and asked if I’d like to go, I thought about it for a few seconds thinking should I really go? What will we talk about? I told the girl I’d go ice skating with her and her friend, little did I know my partner from orientation would become one of my closest friends who I give a large amount of trust to. By simply taking a chance to interact with new people, I have now formed a friendship that I will cherish for a very long time.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
