One summer, I bought an old, cheap, and barely functioning motorcycle. I had almost no mechanical ability nor motorcycle riding experience at the time, but I had the confidence to simply dive in head first and start a new hobby. I started by figuring out how to make the bike run properly, and then moved on to getting my motorcycle endorsement. It was quite a lengthy process! After many mishaps, breakdowns, and adventures, I managed to put nearly 10,000 miles on a 29 year old, five hundred dollar motorcycle in one summer. I was unstoppable, and could conquer any road or mechanical issue! I learned a huge amount about mechanics and dealing with breakdowns myself instead of reaching out for help. Professional mechanics, after all, were outside my budget! That summer gave me an enormous feeling of independence and self reliance. No handouts for me!

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
