When I’m with my dad and we drive in the city streets, there are always people panhandling.
I Guess I feel bad for them, but I know they could do something else except beg for money.
By my house there is a gas station, the owner of the gas station always kicks out homeless people from his store. But there was one man we’ve always noticed who never begged for anything, he would just smile at people. He would go to the gas station sometimes. One day my dad came to talk to him. His name was Thomas and he gave his life story. Thomas said he was in the military, and he served a good amount of years. He had a divorce with his wife, and never really got to see his kids. One day his kids and wife died in a car crash, and on top of that, he was discharged. He worked cheap, until he was retired. He couldn’t handle the pain; he filed for bankruptcy, and lost his home. He keeps a tent up in the large forest and makes fires and gets food his different ways. My dad brings him propane by his home, and crackers as well. Thomas is a good person.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
