I am a 911 Dispatcher for The City of Murfreesboro, TN. In October 2010, one of my officers, Brittany Maxwell started a project to give artificial Christmas Trees to children in low income housing complexes in our city. She was bullied, harassed and teased by other officers for varying reasons. But Officer Maxwell wasn't going to let that stop her. On October 23, 2010 Officer Maxwell took her own life; her project left unfulfilled. As her friends and family struggled to understand why we no longer had Brittany, one thing was perfectly clear. We must continue her project ad see it through. Which we did and will continue to do every year in honor of Officer Maxwell. See Brittany started this because one young child told her that Christmas Trees were for "rich" people and that since they were not rich, there would not be a tree at Christmas for them. We carry on her project every year in her honor, making sure that not just the rich people in our town have Christmas Trees.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
