In 2008, my mother was diagnosed with Arnold Chiari malformation and Syringomyelia. She underwent 4 brain surgeries. During those surgeries, she died on the operating table twice. The doctors brought her back to life and told me she would never wake up again. An hour later, she woke up. During her recovery, the doctors told me she would never walk, talk, or eat again on her own. My mother fought her diagnosis and relearned to walk, talk, and eat without assistance. My mother fought to live and she inspires me every day. I am amazed by her strength.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
