I was coming home to Auburndale Fl.on leave while serving in the Army and would be transferring to a new assignment stateside on my return. I had a small briefcase that contained extremely important records including my orders, vital new assignment information, medical and service records etc. with me. My flight was prevented from landing in Tampa and redirected to Ft. Lauderdale due to a tornado outbreak in progress. From Ft. Lauderdale, I was on a bus on the long trip back to Tampa airport where my 18yr old brother was waiting to pick me up. We stopped for a rest break at a turnpike service center and outside it was torrential rain. I ate and then made phone call in an outside phone booth. I ended the phone call because I noticed everyone was back on the bus except me. I ran through the torrential rain, soaking my class A uniform. As I was walking down the aisle towards my seat, a friendly looking elderly man said, "young man, you had a briefcase with you when you got off bus." I had left it in the phone booth! I was able to quickly retrieve my valuable possessions thanks to the gentleman on the bus.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
