My brother showed the act of selflessness everyday in the short 24 years he was with us. He not only made the ultimate sacrifice for our country but also lived his life serving others. Michael has been on three deployments the last one ultimately taking his life protecting another soldier. But Michael showed this trait everyday. When he was home on leave he liked to catch up with friends and family, but he also continued to serve. When Staten Island was hit by hurricane sandy, Michael was there to lend a helping hand with the clean up. He served his community coaching soccer to inner city children, and worked with project home front building houses. These are just a few examples of how he showed the act of selflessness to others. He has touched the lives of many and will continue to do so.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
