Dustin is a six year old boy who recently went through a kidney transplant. He spent over a month at the Milwaukee Children's Hospital where he received one of his father's kidneys. Dustin had been waiting for his transplant for many years, waiting for his body to be ready to accept the kidney. After the transplant, it was discovered that Dustin's dad's kidney was still a little too big for him. Doctors needed to leave Dustin's incision open for a week while swelling in his abdomen went down. They were finally able to close him up, but the struggle was not over. The kidney still wasn't working properly. Doctors tried another treatment and Dustin started to respond positively. His kidney started to work better! Dustin still is receiving treatments, but his optimistic outlook has never wavered. He loves playing with dinosaurs (who protected him while in the hospital) and building with Legos. Dustin's positive attitude towards life and courage he displays in facing obstacles is infectious!

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
