I became a single mom in 1999, having a 2 year old to care for on my own. There were tremendous setbacks in a town that didn t accept single mother. I was in very abusive situations. We had no one to turn to, accept my mother. However she could not prevent the sorrow. I enjoyed motherhood tremendously and love Alysa so much. There were times we were almost homeless. I persevered through compassion, every situation I encountered I said "So that s how that feels for someone". This gave me strength because I looked more logical at my situation with heartfelt understanding of others have in their life. Otherwise I would fall apart from pain. Instead my compassion and empathy was my education. When September 11, 2001 occurred I could only give thru words. After taking my daughter to kindergarten I finished writing ONE WORLD ONE DREAM, September 12, 2001. In June of 2005 I was astonished to see the 2008 Beijing Olympics had chosen One World One Dream giving me credit from a newspaper article. God Bless

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
