As a Hippie of the 60's and 70's were thought we were invincible. We used the line that if we knew we were going to live this long we would have taken better care of ourselves. Little did I know that one morning in 1999 that at 4:00a.m. while getting ready for work, I would find myself on the floor of yjr bathroom with my son leaning over me and saying "Dad, you're having a stroke!" a stroke which totally disabled my left side confined to a wheelchair, then a walker, then a cane (a cane is alot sexier than a walker). I was in rehab for 31 days but walked out of rehab under my own power...Little did I know that God had given me more strength than I could ever imagine.. Two years after that Cataracts were discovered in both eyes. But larger than that in 2013 I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Prostate Cancer (which has since been resolved) and in November of 2013 I had a kidnry removed but the doctor found cancer in both my ureter and bladder neck. He surgically removed the cancer and after visits to the oncologist the oncologist determined that I WOULD NOT need any further treatments. No chemotherapy, no radiation therapy just check ups every 6 months..I dont tell this story to gain sympathy or any of that. I only tell this story as a means of inspiration to others. I have always considered myself a weak individual, Obviously God knows I am stronger than I think I am. On a side note I think I am going to go out on the "inspirational speaking tour" to the local Knights halls (knights of columbus, etc Moose clubs and Lions club and share my story..I believe it is my "calling" my "purpose" in life.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
