For as long as I can remember, I have been particularly close to my family. I share many passions and interests with my father, mother, and sister, and we spend a great deal of time together enjoying one another's company. As a result, the values that my parents hold have become deeply instilled in my identity as a person, whether it be persistence, empathy, wit, or wisdom. However, more than anything, my family has always emphasized to live life, to enjoy and embrace it for all its splendor, For indeed, everything, all the worries, all the responsibilities, all the problems in one's life are for naught.. if one is not able to take a step back and simply live.
I am someone who often gets caught up in my own anxieties and doubts, and keeping this value in mind keeps me positively in the present. Making sure that I am living life ensures that when I am going through a tough time that I am still able to prevent myself from staying stuck in a negative space. When I find myself having to make a particularly difficult decision, such as when I chose to attend the University of Michigan or decided on my major, I often lean on this principle to guide me.
As I pursue a career in a field I am truly passionate about, sports, it is comforting knowing that nothing is more important than living life to the fullest. Therefore this principle pushes me through adversity. In these next five years, as graduate college joining the work force, and contemplating returning to school I believe that this value, instilled by my family, is invaluable in my continued happiness and general well being.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
