My heroes, Cindy and Darlene, are actually connected. I was looking for a job and had been out of work for a little while when my mom, through some volunteer work, found out about a local job training center for people with disabilities. I was tested and I got a job coach, Cindy. She was great. Cindy helped me transfer my skills and abilities to an appropriate job. I have now been at this job for almost seven years. I went with her to many interviews. I got two callbacks and one place even asked when I could start-which was the next day. Anyway, that was where Darlene comes in. She took a chance on someone with a mild form of autism. Darlene is very dependable and cares about all the people she works with and expects only their best effort. I try very hard to do my best at my job. I really like Darlene and Cindy. They took chances on me when they didn't have to; for this I will always be grateful to them.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
