My hero is every nurse who works 12 hours straight...
Exposing themselves to illness and emotional stress...
Sometimes on weekends and holidays...
Sometimes through the night...
Often putting their own needs and even some of the needs of their families aside...
To care for the sick who are sometimes confused, scared, frustrated, sad, angry, and not at their best...
And still put their hearts into their work...
Makes an effort to get to know the patients as unique individuals...
Shows respect even when the patients lifestyles and values are different from their own...
Strives to give the best care, sometimes in an unsupportive healthcare system...
And at the end of the day, sometimes cries for their patients...
And throughout it all finds the greatest satisfaction in a simple thank you now and then.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
