In March 2002, I was to have a surgery and stay over one night. I ended up in ICU for 17 weeks. I then spent many months in rehab. My health never improved to any great level, and after many therapies and procedures, it was determined that I needed another surgery. In August 2007 I went in again with the thought of staying one night. Again I ended up in ICU and later into my second coma. Since then I have had numerous surgeries, the last being in Feb. with one more this summer. My husband was at my bedside everyday over the past 6 years, except for one when he had a cold. I always had fresh flowers and his strength to encourage me to fight to live, and then to relearn everything..twice. He took care of me and our son, who is now 12. He never complained once, and he continues to support me in every way possible. He maintains his stressful job in the banking business, plays hockey, Boy Scouts and Sunday School. He has taught our son what it means to be a Man, and I will always be grateful.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
