I have known Mariah since the 3rd grade. We met on a club soccer team called Magic. She was a lot better at soccer than I was and three years older but that didn't make a difference to her. she didn't care how old I was or what I wore or how good I was at soccer, she loved me for me.
Now after being on magic with her for two years I moved on to bigger and better things only to find out that she was going to follow me in a matter of months. We saw each other on and off after that.
Then, when I turned 10, we became BEST FRIENDS!! she won over everything and she still does. She was there for me when my grandpa died and when I was having a tough time in school and soccer. I knew I could always trust her.
I have written several poems for her and here is one of them:
MY IDOL
YOU'VE BEEN THERE THROUGH IT ALL
AND STOOD WITH ME SO TALL
ENCOURAGED ME TILL THE END
YOU ARE THERE TO BE MY FRIEND
MADE ME SMILE AND NEVER STOPPED
I TRUST YOU KNOW WITH ALL I'VE GOT
I KNOW WHO AND WHAT YOU ARE TO ME
YOUR NOT ALWAYS WHO YOU WANT TO BE
BUT YOU'LL BE THERE TILL THE END SO TRUE
DOING EVERYTHING I'D DO FOR YOU
GUIDENCE
Every step I watch you make
Your footprints leave the path I take
Everytime you may fall down
you get back up and stand your ground
I watch amazed from behind
with my gaze locked on your pride
When you stand so tall and proud
you give me courage to not back down

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
