Young Boy Battling Leukemia Delivers 400 Holiday Gifts to Children’s Hospital

December 24, 2024 by By Cathy Stack

KENT, England—Elliott Hole, age 4, has undergone extensive treatment for leukemia for nearly three years. After his last chemotherapy treatment in March 2025, he will transition to outpatient care at his local children’s hospital. As he happily began to prepare for his transition back home, he told his mom that he felt bad for the kids left behind at the hospital during the holiday season. He said he wanted to do something to bring them some cheer. His mom, Harley, then hatched a plan to collect toys for the young patients. She set up an Amazon wishlist and shared the link. To the delight of Elliot and Harley, the community responded with overwhelming generosity. Thanks to donations from the community, the mom-and-son duo received more than 400 gifts for children who might not be able to leave their hospital rooms for the holidays.

His mom, Harley, then hatched a plan to collect toys for the young patients at three local hospitals: the Royal Marsden in Sutton, Kings College in London, and Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough. She set up an Amazon wishlist and shared the link.

To the delight of Elliot and Harley, the community responded with overwhelming generosity. Thanks to donations from the community, the mom-and-son duo received more than 400 donations of chocolate, games, bubbles, stickers, stationery and more, which they used to create goodie bags for children who might not be able to leave their hospital rooms for the holidays.

“I stopped counting when we got to 400 but I would say in total we did about 440, as well as over 100 calendars,” said Harley.

Elliot experienced first-hand sometimes lonely and boring hospital stays following his treatments. At age two, doctors diagnosed him with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and prescribed a three-year treatment plan that included daily chemotherapy.

“The reception from the patients was brilliant. The nurses were all amazed by how much there was,” said Harley. “We wheeled in this huge crate of presents.”

Harley is proud of Elliot’s thoughtful gesture.

“He is a very kind little boy,” she said. “He is quite outgoing. Considering everything that he has been through, you would never think that anything was ever up. He is quite strong willed and just powers through.”

The Foundation for a Better Life and PassItOn.com believe that Elliott and Harley Hole are heroes. Their action is a great example of the value of charity. Their act reflects the holiday spirit of giving selflessly to bring joy to others. Their thoughtful gesture has uplifted and given joy to children battling illnesses during this holiday season, and their kindness has proven the timeless message that a simple act of charity can bring hope and light to those who need it most.

I had aml and a stay of several months in hospital with 8 blood transfusions plus platlets. I wasn't bored but I, too, felt sorry hearing others suffering worse than I. My wish is this ylung lad grows strong and his mom can find peace from her worries.
